Thank You O.J.

Career fugitive O.J. Simpson is back in the news this week and back under arrest, and maybe it’s me, but I’m thankful for it. Not for O.J. possibly getting his due and serving some time, but for the entertainment value. If O.J. Trial II brings us half as much comedy and entertainment as O.J. Trial I, than I am thankful.

Not only is 24 coverage of the Juice entertaining for it’s ridiculousness, I’m really looking forward to the late night talk-show comedy, Chris Rock’s next HBO special, Norm McDonald being brought out of retirement to host Weekend Update on SNL.

The beauty of this is, while O.J. is probably guilty again, everybody will be convinced that he didn’t, or rooting for him to get off. The Juice will launch a campaign to find the “real assaulters”, vowing not to rest until he finds the person or people who actually broke into that hotel room.

This case still doesn’t have it’s Mark Furman, but it will. We’ll eventually find out that some type of glove or gloves were involved. And we can only pray, and pray hard, that somehow, and some way, Kato Kaelin was in Las Vegas this past week, perhaps crashing on O.J.’s couch in his suite.

Luckily for me, I live in Las Vegas, which I can only hope turns into the circus that Los Angeles was in 1995. Anything is better than another story in the local paper about Britney Spears skanking it up or Criss Angel trying to get Britney to skank it up with him.

This is like watching a band you mildly enjoyed ten years ago reunite for one more tour. Like a band that you don’t remember being that good, but then you put an old album on and you find yourself really digging it.

If only Johnnie Cochran was alive to see this. This is going to be awesome.
