It appears as if Ricky Hatton’s return to 140 pounds will be against Juan Lazcano on May 24 in Manchester. An announcement is expected sometime this week to make it official. Lazcano may not be the best junior-welterweight available, but he is sporting the best nickname in the division, as he’s aka-ed as “The Hispanic Causing Panic.” It also appears that Hatton is close to making a deal to fight Paulie Malignaggi at Madison Square Garden in the fall.

James Toney vs. Danny Williams in London in May or June? Where do I sign up for this utterly irrelevant heavyweight battle. I like James Toney, but he really needs to just walk away.

After the ass-kicking that John Duddy took on Saturday, it appears he is out of the running for a June 7 fight with Kelly Pavlik. In addition to his complete lack of defense that would likely get him hurt badly against Pavlik, he will need quite a bit of time to recover from the bad cuts he received in his last fight. The undefeated Dominican Giovanni Lorenzo is now the front runner to face Pavlik in June.
