Mayweather Makes it Rain For the Kids

Floyd Mayweather is living up to his “Money” nickname, as he gave $140,000 to Michigan Golden Gloves to cover the entire operating budget for this years National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions. The Michigan Golden Gloves is where Floyd got his start, and it really is great to see him making it rain where rain is needed.

It appears that Mikkel Kessler pulled out of his fight with Edison Miranda to land a bout with WBA “regular” champion Anthony Mundine. Kessler was named the mandatory for Mundine Tuesday. I personally don’t like the fact that he pulled out of the Miranda fight for this, being how if he beat Miranda, the fight with Mundine could still be made in the same timetable. Mundine has a fight scheduled for May 28, while the Kessler-Miranda fight was supposed to be on May 24. I understand his reasoning, I just don’t agree with it.

UFC fighter Terry Martin is crossing over to boxing. Martin has been involved in MMA for the last five years, compiling an 18-4 record. He will start out in a four round fight on April 11 at cruiserweight.

Did anyone else watch 60 Minutes this week with their piece about statistician Bill James? The piece was pretty “narrow and inaccurate“, and apparently I’m not the only one who noticed.

Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft apologized to other owners and coaches at NFL meetings this week. Apparently they both asked for time to speak and apologized at least for the negative attention it brought the league, and they also accepted the punishments the team was given. The other owners and coaches said that while they didn’t need to apologize, they appreciated it.
