High School Girl Wins Team Track Title — By Herself

lukekohler.com: Latest post

A high school girl in Texas won a track title for her school, despite being the only one representing it. Bonnie Richardson, of Rochelle High School, took home the team title all by herself, by dominating the maximum five events she was allowed to participate in.

Richardson took part in the high jump, long jump, discus, 200 meters, and 100 meters. She won the high jump and 200 meters, finished second in the long jump and 100 meters, and finished third in the discus.

University Interscholastic League limits athletes from taking part in more than five events, so theoretically, she could have done even better. She said that wasn’t happening, saying, “I don’t think I could handle any more. It was hot and I was tired.”

Who says there’s no ‘I’ in team?

By earning 42 points, Richardson outscored the runners up from Chilton by six points.
