Somebeachsomewhere, the most hyped 3-year old pacing colt in a long time, is set to begin his 3-year old campaign this Saturday at Mohawk Raceway, just outside of Toronto.

That’s right, while every sports website in the United States is telling you about Big Brown, I am telling you about the other horse racing, harness racing. Born and raised in New Jersey, I was raised around the pacers and trotters, and am in the minority of degenerates who prefer harness racing over thoroughbreds.

Nothing against Big Brown — I’ve waited my whole life to see a Triple Crown winner — but Somebeachsomewhere is quite possibly a freak cut from the same cloth. If you like horse racing, try to make an effort to catch this horse at some point this year.

With any luck, Somebeachsomewhere will make it to the United States this year to run against the rest of the best 3-year olds. He is nominated for the Meadowlands Pace, so there is a chance.
