Zab Judah vs. Shower Door — What’s the Real Story

lukekohler.com: Latest post

Earlier this month, it was reported that Zab Judah accidentally put his arm through his shower door and required 50 stitches to fix the wounds. This injury forced the cancellation of his bout with Shane Mosley. It was said and assumed to be true that Judah accidentally slipped, causing the accident.

This week, ESPN.com scribe Dan Rafael said in his blog that the “real story” came out, and Zab’s arm injury was from him getting into an altercation of some type with his father, which led to him angrily putting his arm through the steam room shower door at the Top Rank gym in Las Vegas.

Now, I consider Rafael to be the top boxing beat reporter in the country. There are others that are good, and sometimes more entertaining, but nobody matches Rafael when it comes to having accurate information. That makes me want to believe his version of the events.

But not long after Rafael’s story hit the Internet, the Judah’s fired back. Both Zab and his father, Yoel, refuted Rafael’s story to Doghouse Boxing’s Gabriel Montoya. Zab contradicted the story with class and dignity, saying, “Dan Rafael’s a piece of shit. I know him. He know me. He’s a piece of shit. Fuck him.” How do you not believe the Judah’s now.

Both Zab and Yoel went on to expletively rip on Rafael, claiming that there are not now, nor have there been problems between them. Yoel also continued ripping on Rafael, coming very close to what could only be considered threatening Rafael, with lines like, “What’s his problem? He wants props or something? If it isn’t fact, why would he put it out? He going to have a problem with me now. When I see him, he got a problem with me…I’ll see him, though. I’ll see him. Watch.”

I don’t know which story to believe, nor do I care which version is accurate. I do know, however, that Dan Rafael has a great reputation in the boxing community, and he usually doesn’t print anything that he hasn’t sourced properly and isn’t sure of it’s validity. Judah, on the other hand, is a top of the line scumbag, known for physically attacking referee Jay Nady after getting knocked out, and for deliberately fouling Floyd Mayweather, than practically starting a riot in the ensuing melee.

I have no information on this other than what I’ve already written, but I am quite confident that I will believe Rafael’s version of the story more than the Judah’s expletive laced reply to said story.
