What Happened to the Pac-10?

What in the hell happened to the Pac-10 this year? Seriously. There is not a single unbeaten team in the Pac-10, and there is no reason for that.

USC loses to Oregon State?
Arizona State loses to UNLV?
Arizona lost to New Mexico.
Cal lost to Maryland.
Oregon State lost to Stanford.
UCLA lost 59-0 to BYU.
Washington and Washington St. are a combined 0-6 against Division-I teams.

This is pathetic. I’m about as outspoken as anyone you’ll find that the SEC is always overrated and they get too much credit. I still don’t think the SEC is as good as most do, but even I have to admit that they are the best conference in the nation now. Not by being good, but by not failing yet.

The only other conference that falls into the category of “not bad” is the Big 12. And maybe the Mountain West.

The Big East, ACC, and Pac-10 are struggling. The SEC and Big 12 are solid. The Big Ten is top-heavy with Penn State, Wisconsin and Ohio State being good, and everyone else being not-good (say what you will about Ohio State, but with a healthy Beanie Wells they are still a top ten team).

Either way, I don’t know what in the world happened to the Pac-10, but as a former Sun Devil, it’s quite embarrassing.
