Adam “Pacman” Jones is back at it again, beating folks down like its 2007. This time, Pacman was fisticuffing with a member of his own security team at a Dallas hotel on Wednesday morning. Check the board — who had October 8 in the Pacman Altercation Pool?
“Dallas’ CBS affiliate, Channel 11, first reported Wednesday that Jones was involved in an altercation at the Joule Hotel in Dallas, damaging a bathroom.
Dallas Deputy Chief Vince Golbeck told the Dallas Morning News police were called to the scene at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Chief Golbeck told the News he thought Jones was staying at the hotel and may have been drinking.
There was no police report filed regarding the incident. No one was arrested and no one will be charged in connection with the fight.”
I’d love to give Pacman the benefit of the doubt, but there is no reason to. This is a guy that isn’t even halfway into the season following the season he was suspended for. He’s not only a professional cornerback, but he’s a professional criminal. This would be the ninth altercation of some type that Mr. Jones has been in since being drafted by Tennessee in 2005, and there are reports of many, many more instances in college at West Virginia.
The Cowboys had no official statement, but Jones’ attorney said he is confident that nothing happened. The four-man security staff with Jones was apparently assigned by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, fearing just this kind of situation for Pacman. The irony that the fight was with a member of the security detail.
Also from ESPN:
“The expectation is that Jones is likely to be called to New York to explain his conduct to Goodell, a source close to the player said. Jones’ reinstatement is contingent upon his ability to conduct himself appropriately.”
If there is anything at all to this story, expect Roger Goodell to come down hard on Jones, but I don’t think that a fight in a hotel where no one was arrested necessarily means another suspension for Pacman. I’d expect some kind of fine and probation type situation.
I’ll put the over/under on Tank Johnson’s headline story at 16 days.
