Broncos Coach: Cutler’s Our Quarterback

lukekohler.com: Latest post

Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels finally offered a little bit of support for the team’s quarterback, saying that Jay Cutler is in fact the quarterback of the Broncos, and that he feels that the relationship can still be salvaged.

McDaniels’ relationship with Cutler was fractured when he failed to tell Cutler that he was looking to trade him, particularly for Matt Cassel. Now that Cassel is with the Chiefs and Cutler is still a Bronco, the fallout of the potential trade is wreaking havoc through the organization.

Cutler has since asked to be traded, claiming that McDaniels made it clear to him that he preferred Cassel and he made no attempt to make Cutler feel comfortable with his status.

McDaniels also said that he thinks he can fix the situation by meeting privately with Cutler and that the relationship can still be fixed.

We’ll have to wait to see if the organization feels the same way, as the NFL owners meet this week, perhaps Cutler’s wishes to be shopped around will come true.

It is rumored that the New York Jets have contacted the Broncos and are prepared to make an offer for Cutler, so we’ll have to see what direction the ownership goes in. Do you protect your solid young quarterback and keep him happy, or do you allow the new, young coach to come in and build his team the way he wants it?

That question and more will likely be answered in the next week or so. Stay tuned for the continuing saga of Jay Cutler and the Denver Broncos.
